Designer and Potter
Originally from Germany I moved to London in February 2020 after graduating and working as a Communication Designer.
Growing up with a carpentry, I always valued working with my hands very highly and so it’s no surprise to me that it was instant love with clay right after my first course in London. Soon followed by another one, and another one, and another one.
My pottery practice began in December 2022. It was a very steep but enjoyable learning curve with around 15 courses throughout the year plus spending all my spare time and beyond in the studio as a member.
Since summer 2024 I am part of the Stable Yard Pottery studio in Wood Green. I also set up my own studio at home a little while ago which allows me to focus solely on my ceramic practice and gives me more freedom to create, produce and to evolve.
My ceramics - mostly thrown - are very much influenced by my design background. Characterised by elegant and balanced shapes, intentionally subtle but apparent finishes, I would describe my work as contemporary and perhaps understated. I like practical objects and so my functional pots are made for everyday use. The majority of clays I choose to work with are stoneware and porcelain. With both I have a big appreciation for the original material and typically decide to leave larger parts of the clay exposed. My porcelain range is defined by abstract colourful forms that are hand-painted individually for each item. This range is fun, bright and playful and it stands very much in contrast to my stoneware pots, which I enjoy to finish in a more natural look and feel.
With my pieces I hope to bring joy to one’s everyday rituals.
